Vitamin B12 is essential for many of your body's essential activities. "Vitamin B12 is necessary for nerve system function, blood cell creation, and DNA synthesis," Samantha Cassetty, MS, RDN, explains. "Vitamin B12 is also involved in the production of neurotransmitters that regulate your mood, which could explain why some studies suggests it could be beneficial for those who are depressed." However, as Cassetty points out, these connections haven't been shown conclusively, so consult your doctor before trying any home cures for depression or other psychiatric issues.
